Penpals For Life was founded in 2020 with the mission of fostering meaningful connections and providing companionship to seniors experiencing loneliness and isolation during the Covid-19 quarantine. During the pandemic, many seniors were confined to communities without visits from loved ones, leaving them with limited social connections. To help combat this isolation, Penpals For Life was created. By becoming a penpal to an elderly person, participants could help alleviate feelings of loneliness and provide much-needed support during this challenging time.
Although the need for social distancing has subsided, we recognize that loneliness is not a passing concern, but a persistent challenge for many aging adults. In response, we have continued to grow our program, fueled by the belief that cultivating penpal connections can be an enduring solution to the ongoing issue of isolation among the elderly. I am extremely proud to lead this incredible organization, providing comfort and happiness to nursing home residents across the country.
