"I am so excited to have the opportunity to open up PenPalsForLife to San Diego because of how impactful I know this program is for so many members of our community. Not only is this going to make a huge difference in the lives of senior citizens, but it is also going to mutually benefit everyone involved. Quarantine has been difficult for all of us, but this trying time has reminded me how important it is that we think of others who might be struggling. I am so lucky to have my grandparents live nearby, and because of this I am very close with my grandparents and see them often. Unfortunately, I know many senior citizens do not have this same opportunity, making PenPalsForLife all the more important. I am truly beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with such an incredible program and cannot wait to begin making connections and relationships with our senior citizens."
" Through this time of quarantine, I have come to understand the importance of social connection and interaction. As the world’s situation limits us from seeing each other face to face, we are still able to communicate in various ways such as FaceTime, social media, and even emails and letters, through platforms such as PenPalsForLife. I have been fortunate enough to keep in contact with my grandparents and extended family through Zooms, but have realized that many seniors do not have the same relationships and opportunities to engage with others. This program will positively affect our senior citizens, along with those who write to them, as lasting connections and relationships will be made. I am so glad that I am able to be involved with this amazing program that creates friendships and I look forward to being a positive light in others’ lives."
